This weekend, the games start to count.
After a longer training camp than usual, four exhibition games and some tough decisions, the Lloydminster Universal Heat are ready to kick off the 2009-2010 AMBHL season.
The Heat wrapped up their pre-season schedule by splitting a pair of games with the improved Camrose Kodiaks – losing 3-2 Saturday and winning 6-3 Sunday.
“These were good games, it’s much more what the league will be like. It was physical, it was a lot higher tempo, they (Camrose) have a lot more offensive and defensive skill and challenged us,” Heat head coach Brian Hozack said. “We had a good game up there, came back Sunday and again it was a good game. I was pleased with the way our boys responded, we got pucks to the net and we were fortunate to get some pucks in.”
