Our CIB ultimate goal has generated awareness with regards to the need for LLoydminster (city Hall) to seriously consider the community cry for more trees to be planted! The Mayor will attend our meeting table to discuss how this can be accomplished into the future, and we are closer to 3000 trees planted in 2009! will have the final count by the end of Sept. Thanks for your generous support and coverage in our plight! Plus we received enough donations to plant trees for Habitat for Humanity’s new residence! Thank You Community!
Congratulations communities in bloom and good on Virginia and the gang for taking a stand to council when it comes to adding more trees in our community. When I drive through Edmonton, calgary, etc, even smaller centres throughout the province, what really impresses me, besides the continuous road improvments, is the commitments that these places make to tree planting initiatives along major roads. To this day I cannot understand why college drive has no trees along boulevards, nor can I understand why the definition of landscaping at the multi-plex consists of a patch of grass and a garbage can. Now while this may seem petty to some, to me these extra aesthetic improvements go a long way in promoting a healthy, beautiful city that we can take pride in. CIB should be commended for getting their voices heard and forcing actions. Hopefully this is just the beginning.
